We are looking for:

The Customer Technical Development (CTD) function within Syensqo provides strong technical expertise and value to our customers by leveraging the entire product portfolio, resources, and know-how of the global business unit. Syensqo is looking for creative, curious self-starters and leaders interested in non-routine challenges to join the Technical Development team and support the healthcare market as well as consumer, and construction markets in North America. CTD engineers interact with the internal organization including commercial, application development, resin development, manufacturing, etc. to develop total customer solutions.

You will be at the forefront of creating and providing exceptional technical expertise.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Work directly with customers in collaboration with the sales and marketing to identify & develop application opportunities where Solvay’s specialty polymers bring value and solve customer problems.

  • Elicit a complete set of customer requirements and develop the value proposition of Solvay materials.

  • Acquire dynamic market knowledge and competitive landscape understanding.

  • Work directly with the Global CTD community and our Research and Development teams, to lead the development and implementation of solutions for customer applications. This includes polymer material recommendation and validation, design support for metal to plastic conversion, prototyping support, tooling design recommendations, testing, and processing assistance.

  • Provide technical training and literature for both internal and external use about designing with polymers, polymer selection, polymer processing, simulation and prototyping.

  • Champion sustainability solutions.

  • Collaboratively interact and share expertise with the global CTD team, and create technical marketing literature.

You will bring:

  • Bachelor degree in mechanical, chemical, or polymer engineering or equivalent applicable technical degree. Master’s degree is a plus

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a technical position working with polymers: knowledge of polymer physics, material selection, and processing.

  • Experience in extruded film, sheets, stock shapes, or profiles.

  • Mechanical aptitude, experience in part and tooling design and failure analysis .

  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively to build deep relationships with both external customers and within a global Syensqo organization.

  • Exceptional communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.

  • Willing and able to travel 40-60% of the time.

  • Preferred candidates will have a good understanding of polymeric materials.

  • Hands-on experience working with polymers in a manufacturing environment (extrusion, injection molding, compression molding) is a plus.

  • Preferred candidates will be able to educate customers as well as to coach and mentor less experienced colleagues.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, technically-oriented.

  • Excellent communication abilities.

  • Capacity to apply technical knowledge in a customer-facing and commercial environment

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • Data analysis, quantitative, qualitative.

You will get:

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $95,000 to $125,000 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
